This gallery is just to post a shot, or shots, that I like every week or so. Could be anything!

  • August 31, 2007. My office overlooks Burke Lakefront Airport from the 13th floor. The Cleveland Air Show is Labor Day Weekend, and for the days before, when the planes are practicing, it is very difficult to work. So, I took my camera into work and tried to take pictures out of the dirty windows. I was very surprised at what I could get from my window with my 75-300MM lens. This is quite a distance away. This was the army helicopter team.
  • August 31, 2007. Usually they have the Blue Angels, but this year it was the Thunderbirds.
  • August 31, 2007. Another shot of the Thunderbirds.
  • August 31, 2007. Different generations giving an exhibition of some nice flying.
  • August 29, 2007. My granddaughter Chloe came to visit me and graciously volunteered to pose for me so I could test out the portrait capabilities of my 90mm lens. We agreed it wasn't bad.
  • August 28, 2007. Chloe got into this posing bit, and stood up and grabbed a nearby apple. We liked this one.
  • August 28, 2007. Chloe and I found a very large and symmetrical orb web outside the door. It was anchored on an angle from the branches of the apple trees to the hostas near the ground. It took us a little while to figure out that the thing that looked like a piece of gravel in the web was the spider. We checked out the Spider book and decided that it was a Micrathena gracilis, or Spined Micrathena.
  • August 28, 2007. Another view of our Micrathena, nicknamed Spike. She was very hard to photograph, expecially with a macro lens, since anything that ruffled the apple leaves in the slightest set the whole web into motion.

  • September 13,2007. Took a trip to Sandy Ridge Reservation to look for Banded Dragonlets. I didn't find any. (A whole different story.) The Sand Hill Cranes kept posing for their picture. They were pretty insistent. Beautiful creatures.
  • September 13, 2007. I rarely see Wandering Gliders at rest. They seem to be always on the wing. This one kept buzzing me and hanging around, but was still too active to keep in my 300 MM lens. Finally it seemed to give up on my photographic ability, and decided it would have to light if it was going to have its picture taken. It settled down in some tall grass. I love the intricate markings down its back.
  • September 23, 2007. Wachovia Securities sponsors the American Gold Cup in Cleveland, and this is where I spent the weekend. I got some very good shots. I love the effort on the horse in this one. The Wachovia jump was the final one.
  • September 23, 2007. Pleased with his round, isn't he? (He took third place).
  • October 19, 2007. Went to a Northeast Ohio Photography workshop. One of the places we went was the ponds surrounding the Cayahoga Valley Nature Center. Wood ducks were in abundance, and quite tame. Wood ducks look oversaturated in reality as well as absolutely magnificent.
  • October 20, 2007. Light on a pile of fallen leaves.
