  • March 25, 2007. After taking a trip to Sandy Ridge Reservation to check out the waterfowl, it turns out that my best shot was a lowly Tree Sparrow in the apple tree outside deck at home. His eye is on the sparrow......
  • April 1. Birds again this weekend. I walked back into the woods, and got a few early wildflowers, but very uninteresting shots. So back to the birdfeeder. These goldfinches are in the process of changeover to summer color. Odd looking at this point!
  • April 1, 2007. Another shot of a changing goldfinch in my apple tree.
  • April 8, 2007. This should have been the beginning of the ode season. I have seen Green Darners breeding at this time in other years. But instead, it is Easter Sunday, and it has been below freezing and snowed for the better part of the week. This is a view that I frequently shoot for reference as to water level, etc. This is the first time I have shot it with an ice cover!
  • April 28, 2007. The apple tree outside the deck is blooming.
  • May 6, 2007. A sunny, but cool day with an absolutely cold breeze. An in between time. Early wildflowers are gone, very few insects flying since it is early and cold. I was actually thinking of doing macros of dandelions! Along came this skipper. Juvenal's Duskywing?
  • June 15, 2007. Jake and I went to Stan Hywet Hall to see the treehouses. I wasn't impressed with most of them. This shot was taken in one of their ponds.
  • June 29, 2007. Jake and I went to the Zoo. Frequently I like the flowers better than the animals. This painted lady posed for us.

  • 6/29/2007. As part of an enrichment program, many of the animals at the zoo are given toys, or other things to give them a more interesting life. Somehow a polar bear and an ear of corn.....................
  • With much fanfare, the Fulton Ave bridge was demolished. It took several tries. The piers made an interesting shot. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a clear shot at it without the pieces of trees, etc.
  • July 29, 2007. I went to the Ohio Dragonfly Conference this weekend at OARDC. Spent some free time in their gardens. This was one of their old fashioned roses.
  • July 29, 2007. This was the most brilliant Red Spotted Purple that I had ever seen.
  • July 29, 2007. A shot of participants trying to photograph or net an Illinois River Cruiser. I gave up and shot the people.
  • July 29, 2007. A closer shot. The River Cruisers practiced elusive maneuvers and just went right on by and back again.
  • August 12, 2007. I got a new Tamron 90MM macro lens and the next few photos are the result of me playing with it. This Viceroy on the butterfly bush is incredibly vivid. At full size the scales and feathering on the insect are very visible.
  • August 11, 2007. One of my favorite jumping spiders in the Rudbeckia behind my house. Clarity of the spider is very good at larger sizes, even though I cropped a lot of flowers out.
  • August 11, 2007. Detail on the hopper and the upper flower is good.
  • August 11, 2007. Took my new lens and went out into the Wetland. This and the next two pictures form a tryptich. I was busy playing with the sneezeweed and this inchworm. I never saw this type of inchworm before. He's just out doing his thing.
  • August 11, 2007. Along comes this little Carpenter Bee, and definitely tells the inchworm what's what.
