Highlights of October 2017 Trip East
10-05-1-7. Went for a late afternoon walk at Stony Brook to loosen up after the drive. Found these falls. Last time I was here, the way was blocked off due to ice.

10-05-17. This is one of my favorite bridges in Stony Brook. It has a lot of image possibilities.

10-06-17. Back on the road . This is what the vista from the road was like for a lot of the trip. Brilliant color!

Closer look at the previous view. I actually liked the way the power lines echoed the curves of the hill.

10-06-17. Same rest stop. The birches contrasted wit the color behind. If you are curious as to where these images were taken, hit the "I" button below the image and then "map". I love my new geotagger!

10-08-17. We went to the John Jay House in New Bedford NY. This is the hourglass garden. All the flowers had finished blooming so that this clump of New England Asters really stood out.
From The Hudson Valley
Haven't looked up these trees, but they were all over and very attractive at this time of the year.
From The Hudson Valley
We were sitting on the porch of the John Jay House waiting for the tour and I got into this door.
From The Hudson Valley
More like what I was trying to get. Each pane of glass reflected differently.

10-09-17. On the way west out of the Hudson Valley. Another rest stop view. There were so many beautiful shots and no place to pull off the highway!

Picnic area in the same place. Sometimes the brilliance is almost overload.

1-10-17. Back to Stony Brook, this time with a tripod. I first thought the orange color on my favorite bridge was iron, but its actually some form of moss or lichen. Another thing to check out.

At the waterfall, this girl sat down, took a few camera shots, and then just sat and contemplated. It was peaceful and powerful at the same time.

The other end of the bridge. It really was this brilliant.

Went to Watkins Glen Marina on Seneca Lake . Brilliant blue again.
From Southern Tier
The proximity of a large dairy farm to the Marina and Lake was unexpected.

The gull was actually what I wanted, but I had a scenery lens, so you get scenery with gull.

This was a nail sticking up from a pier. I think the orb web weaver was trying set her web up like a sail. Made me smile.

View heading toward the top. There was a whole big busload of Chinese tourists who arrived when we did. Some just visible at the top of the image.

Down the gorge from farther above. No pictures on the rest of the way home, since it was pouring rain all the way! Looking forward to my next trip!
