Crook Street Wetlands - 2005

This was my second season to survey Odonata, dragonflies and damselflies, in the Crook Street Wetland, by permit from the Lorain County Metroparks. While I survey and collect data on Odonata, I photograph anything relevant or interesting. 2005 had a cold, wet spring, a hot, dry summer and a prolonged, mild autumn, all of which influenced the number and type of dragonflies and damselflies. If I have mis-identified anything, a correction is appreciated. Thank you to the Lorain County Metroparks!

  • April 9, 2005. First Odonata on the Site. Common Green Darner, Anax junius, in wheel position. These are migrants, coming in from farther south, who will lay their eggs. There will be an emergence in the fall of another generation which will migrate in the opposite direction. There are only a few species which migrate.
