0-8-05-17. Blue Dasher, Pachidyplax longipennis. This one is a mature specimen at the right time of year, unlike the prior shot!
08-06-17. As I was leaving this day, I heard a buzzing, turned around, and this Green Darner, Anax junius, was snatching another Dragon out of the air. It landed with its prey and started to devour its head. From some of the shots I took, it appeared to be a Prince Baskettail ,Epitheca princeps, the only one I saw this year!
08-26-17. This embarrassingly bad shot is actually a county record. In spite of the poor quality,( and I didn't get more than 3 shots before it flew off, all terrible,) there is no question it is a Blue-faced Meadowhawk, Sympetrum ambiguum. We looked for it for weeks later and didn't find it again.
