Appropriately, the war memorial in the town of Pietrabbondante is a magnificent Samnite Warrior. The Samnites were early inhabitants of the area, before the Romans, whom they soundly defeated in the first 2 of 3 wars in the 3rd and 4th centuries BC

When you are on hills, you often look down into things. The flowers on the balcony were lovely, but it was the shoes leaning against the wall that made it unique.
The lampost was typical, but the shadows made it special.
