1-04-17. This hyacinth is in the birthday present Kathy gave me - 3 months of blooms. This is from the December pot, which is just starting out. Lots more macros to come. Smells absolutely wonderful! Spring in the winter.
1-08-17. Medina Preserve with CMNH. I have seen this big bracket fungus several times but still not sure of the ID. Maybe Phellinus igniarius.
1-11-17. Took a walk at Crook Street. Last night there were very, very high winds, and I wanted to see if there was any major damage. It did pretty well, but some of the dead branches had interesting fungi.
1-11-07. Another interesting fungus on a downed branch at Crook Street.
1-13-17. Sandy Ridge walk today. Only get silhouettes against the bright sky. Nice walk.
1-15-17. Bright red amaryllis emerging in my December pot. Playing with macro and off camera flash.
1-15-17. Took the dogs to Columbia Station. The ice formations were phenomenal! Places had flooded and frozen. Then the water receded leaving these ice sheets looking like they were floating in the air. And all I had was my phone. I might go back tomorrow, but it probably won't look the same!
1-25-17. Quick run to Indian Hollow for exercise and to check the river. Probably missed the peak but it was still flooding. Indian Hollow is my go-to place in this uncertain weather-close and interesting.
1-26-17. CMNH birding trip along the Lake Erie shore in Lorain County. This was in Avon Lake, and the wind was so strong I left my camera in the car after this since I couldn't hold it anything like steady. Barely could hold my binoculars! I didn't have y camera when we came across at least 16 Bald Eagles at Old Woman's Creek. (Yes, we strayed out of Lorain a little.)
1-28-17. Wolf Creek Environmental Center with CMNH . Definitely want to revisit this place in the Spring. This is called the Fairy Tree. Hit by lightning years ago and has decayed into amazing patterns.
