Sandy Ridge

  • March 14. Beautiful clouds and reflections at Columbia Station.
  • March 14. Usually I get pictures like this in Fall, not Spring.
  • March 15. Sandy Ridge. The Red Winged Blackbirds are back in force.
  • March 15. Sandy Ridge. No ice. Just reflections and the green covered logs.
  • March 16. In honor of St. Patrick, one day early.
  • March 17. Crook Street Wetlands, 1st trip this year. Weather said clouds and sun. They were half right. Last year at this time the Blue Dashers had already arrived.
  • March 18. Still working on a good shot of these Red Breasted Nuthatches. Looks like they are pairing off and going to stay. They are getting very tame.
  • March 18. These are the daffs I shot on January 12. All budded out and thawing after last nite's ice, but are not going to make it for their Namesake, St Patrick's day!
  • March 19. Wind Chill was 8 today and it felt it. Bot myself a Gerbera Daisy in the Supermarket.
  • March 20. This is what it looks like this year on the first day of Spring! Almost the same shot as March 17.
  • March 20. 1st day of Spring and it's below freezing with snow showers. Decided to see what last year was like, This was taken March 23. The Magnolia in my front yard was in full bloom, way too early! Tiny tight little buds today.
  • March 20. This one was taken last year on March 22. Not a sign of Trout Lilies or any other early wildflowers yet this year.
  • March 21. Cat portrait. This is KIKI. No banjo this time.
  • March 22. Playing with the Gerbera Daisy and soft focus with a 90mm macro.
  • March 23. Blackbirds flocking in a tree across the road. There were actually more, but some flew off when I came out. Wires make a great touch (!).
  • March 23. Went on a Skunk Cabbage walk at Columbia Station and here they were, popping right out of the barely thawed muck! Chorus Frogs were still at it, too.
  • March 24. Song Sparrow on the deck. A lot of these right now, but they don't stay still!
  • March 25. More Snow. Lots of hungry birds. Some of these Starlings choose to go down into the cone when it is low, instead of on the outside. I haven't been able to get a shot of them til today. We have had them get stuck this way.
  • March 25. We have a pair of Red Bellied Woodpeckers that hang around the feeder farther from the house. This is the only time I have caught a shot of him at the peanut feeder - through the window, of course! The sparrow looks like it is politely waiting its turn.
  • March 27. The rising sun can even make this puddle in my muddy driveway interesting!
