February 1. Macro on cut flowers.

around homegarden flowers

  • February 1. Macro on cut flowers.
  • February 2. Went on a 'Ramble' to CMNH's Medina Sanctuary on the Rocky River. It was snowing and I liked the snow on the green top of this bracket fungus.
  • January 2. This brave (or dumb) wooly bear got snowed on as he was trying to crawl on the tree.
  • February 3. This is Mama Cardinal checking the deck floor for seeds. She's a friend.
  • January 4. Black River. Not sure if it's thawing or freezing. Most of it was ice covered here.
  • February 4. Pines in the snow.
  • February 5. CBG. Spray of orchids at all different angles. Needs to be looked at in extra large. Click on the right side of the picture.
  • February 6. CMNH. Went to a class and stopped to try out the low light capability of my new little Canon s100. I was impressed. No flash and it took this at ISO 1600. Now I need to figure out if I can control Depth of Field.
  • February 7. Photographically, this shot doesn't make it, but it was the high point of my day. This is a pair of Long-eared Owls that were way up in some White Pines. High enough to put a crick in your neck watching them, and just about out of my lens range. It was way cool.
  • February 8. Checking out the macro capabilities of the s100.
  • February 9. The Wilds. CMNH trip checking out the raptors. Very exciting! Saw all kinds, e.g. Golden Eagle, I have never seen before. All way out of range of my lens. I liked all the diagonals in this shot.
  • February 9. The Wilds. Bison on a little hill.
  • February 10. If you look carefully, you can see the buds starting.
  • February 11. Sunrise peeping through the clouds over the soccer field. This was before it clouded over and the wind came up.
  • February 11. Same sunrise over my thawing pond.
  • Feb 12. Gray day until late afternoon. Macro time.
  • February 13. Another gray day until late afternoon. Went to Columbia Station for a walk. Ice has been thawing and melting for days. I don't know how this oak leaf formation was formed, but it was intriguing .
  • February 14. While remarking to myself that my "Christmas" cactus has been blooming from Thanksgiving to Valentines Day and may still be at it at Easter, I noticed this itsy bitsy spider lowering itself from the tip of the petal above. It repeatedly lowered itself, pulled itself back up, ran around the flower, and then repeated the whole process. Too bad the silk isn't visible, and no Waterspout!
  • February 14. Itsy Bitsy Spider at the end of the petal. More of a size perspective than the previous if you are familiar with Christmas Cactus blooms.
  • February 15. Needed to hang around the house today and this is what I planned to do - play with what was left of my last bouquet but.................
