08/01/13. Saw this Luna Moth in the grass as I was mowing. Of course, I went and got my camera. It moved away after I got this shot.
08/06. So far, this is the only Monarch I have seen. None at home yet, this is at the Botanical Garden.
08/09. Grasshoppers are getting plentiful. This one was on a corn leaf next door.
8/15. Glad to have a few Monarchs back at the Butterfly Bush.
08/19. Not my favorite thing, but some grasshoppers are pretty colorful.
08/23. Don't need more Tiger Swallowtail pictures, but this one on my zinnias was begging.
08/29. CSW. Katydid Wasp on Boneset. Like the Blue cast to the wings with the orange legs.
08/31. Wendtwood Preserve. Goldenrod is host to all sorts of insects. This guy is a Black-horned Tree Cricket.

08/07. The second batch of Barn Swallows has fledged. This one is in the shade, taking a rest from flight training.
08/11. CSW. I rarely get a shot of a Green Darner resting.
8/18. Peak Preserve. This bright Indigo Bunting sat quietly eating grass seeds. I liked the color contrast.
08/21. A plug for Music in the Meadow. New Barleycorn made me feel like I was back in college.
08/27. After trying all summer for a Black Swallowtail picture, this one finally sat for me. And not for long!
08/31. Went on a Goldenrod Hike with CMNH at the Wendtwood Preserve. This is a demonstration of Tall Goldenrod.
08/04. Tailed Blues rarely sit showing their blue. Probably the only shot I have ever gotton of them this way.
08/09. A Viceroy on my butterfly bush. No Monarchs yet.

8/18. Peak Preserve. Molting didn't stop this Song Sparrow from doing his thing at the top of the bush.
08/23. Goldfinch cleaning out the last seeds from the sunflowers in the garden.
08/29. CSW. First good clump of mushrooms of the season. With the wet conditions, there should be lots coming.
08/31. Wendtwood Preserve. The first hint of Fall Reflections.
